EVENTS OF THE YEAR PAST

Hopetown National Meatmaster Sale - 11 August 2010

(In the photo: Mr. Nico Louw who purchased the most expensive ram CRC 8198 for R 30 000)

The Meatmaster National Elite Sale was a huge success!  We would like to thank all the breeders who made the effort of joining us on the day of our National Sale.  The standard of this years sale was very high and therefore everyone was well pleased with the presentation of the sheep.  The average price for rams was R6 213 out of 65 rams.  The Average price for ewes was R2568 for just over 80 ewes.  These prices may not seem much to many other breeds, but for such a young breed and one with such low input cost all the sellers where well pleased.  The most expensive ram was CRC 8198 of Collett Farming CC and it was bought by Mr. Nico Louw for R30 000.

Beginners Course 9-10 August 2010

The Bo-Karoo Meatmaster Club held a Meatmaster beginners course at Hopetown on the 9th and 10th of August.  The two days where very well attended with over 33 people attending and completing the course. The Society would like to thank the Bo Karoo Meatmaster Club for hosting this coarse.  We would also like to thank everyone who came from far to attend the two days.

As in the past, Rustenburg did not disapoint us.  Our breeders come from far and wide to sell their genetics to help those in Rustenburg to establish a healthy market.  Our Expo was also a huge success and we would like to thank Mr. JP du Plessis and Mr. J Morrison for handling the Expo for us, it is much appreciated.  It is always comforting to know that the breed is being led by breeders who places the importance of the breed before self gain.  We would like to thank all the buyers for supporting us, and we will do our best to continue improving the Meatmasterso that it will make you more profit in nature.  The Meatmaster sale on 4 June was well attended with very satisfying prices.  Out of 48 ewes the average price was R1 420 and the most expensive ewe was R 7 500.  Seller of the ewe was Collett Farming CC and the buyer was Mr. Rassie van der Vyfer of Ranette Stud.  Out of 18 rams the average price was R3 850 with the most expensive ram going for R10 100.  Seller of the ram was Collett Farming CC and the buyer was Mr. Riaan Liebenberg from Hanri Stud.

We would like to thank everyone that made the effort to get to us at the Meatmaster stall.  Once again we where completely blown away by the huge interest in the breed.  It is no wonder that this breed grew with in a matter of 2 years to one of the 5th largest breed society's in South Africa.  The society would like to thank the breeders who made the effort of manning the stall for the 5 days.

SA Meatmaster Breeders trip to Namibia. (Finished)

In GRÜNAU was die Meataster dag gehou by Mnr.

18 - 19 February 2010 CLEANSKIN SHEEP SYMPOSIUM, ADELAIDE AUSTRALIA (Finished)

The Cleanskin Sheep Symposium that was held on 18 and 19 February was regarded as a big success.  The attendance was so great that eventually they had to deny access to some people as the building was to full.  There was media coverage everywhere.  Various breed representatives where given the opportunity on speaking in front of the large audience.  The Meatmaster was undoubtedly the breed that extracted the most interest.

There was a lot of media coverage given to Mr. Clynton Collett (Meatmaster breed representative) , from radio to TV.  Their is without any doubt a big future for the Meatmaster in Australia and world wide.

We the Meatmaster Society of South Africa would like to thank Mr. Collett  for the effort and time he took going to this Symposium, representing the Meatmaster and doing so out of his own pocket.
